The magnificent, tasty, multi-use and reliable purple peach.

It is also know as Sanguine peach, Purple and Black peach, as well as Black Boy peach, a name best left in the past, but must be mentioned so you know it's the same epic peach, just with a better name.

Medium to large purple/port wine skinned fruit with delicious juicy white and purple/blood red flesh.

The fruit cooks and bottles beautifully, and goes well on an upside down cake.

The Heritage Foods Research Trust says "can contain very high levels of chlorogenic acid (5-CQA) and quercetin glycosides; Q-glu (quercetin-3-glucoside) and Q-gal (quercetin-3-galactoside)."

A medium vigour - vigorous tree that crops consistently.

The best peach for those of us in areas with mild summers where other peaches get savaged by leaf curl, fail to ripen or succumb to brown rot.

Grown on its own roots - seedling tree, starts fruiting after 3-5 years.

ORIGIN: Exact origin unknown. There are many strains of this variety around Aotearoa. Most likely originally imported from France in the early 20th Century.
