The "must have" early ripening apple, setting the bar very high for all later apples!
Medium-sized, flat-round fruit, with bright blood red skin.
Firm, crisp flesh, uniquely stained with pink from the skin. It is reasonably sweet, juicy, and has excellent flavour with a hint of strawberry.
It ripens very early (early to mid-February in Dunedin), has a long harvest period, and keeps well for an early apple.
Medium vigour tree, it crops well from an early age. Tends to be tip-bearing and requires minimal pruning. Its blossom is frost-tolerant.
Does well in areas with hot or cooler summers. It is a healthy and reliable tree that tolerates low rainfall.
