Depending on the needs of the garden, ongoing monthly and bi-monthly sessions are scheduled with an agreed yearly budget for new plants or materials. How much depends whether your garden is in a development phase (requiring lots of new materials and plants) or we are keeping it humming (requiring a minimum of new materials and plants).

Edible and ecological gardens and landscapes need pruning, cutting back and creative tweaking through the seasons and years. When we manage your garden we are actively working to make it healthier, more productive and more beautiful. We work at establishing groundcover plants to reduce future weeding. This is a different model to the garden maintenance model which keeps a garden stagnating in a state that requires the same ongoing maintenance.

We do all the basics and these specialty areas:

  • Vegetable garden management - we keep it topped up with seedlings for a year round harvest. This requires systems and techniques from us which we are experts in. The veggie garden may still require input from you, beyond harvesting, if we are not visiting monthly.
  • Orchard, berry and vine management - pruning, maintaining fertility and monitoring and managing pests and diseases.
  • Composting - where possible we recycle and compost trimmings and weeds on site to feed back into your garden, saving you on tip fees.
  • We cut hedges - if possible we mulch or compost them on-site
  • Tree work - if any tree work is beyond our reach we will discuss this with you and bring in our trusted arborist partners.
  • Yes, we cut "lawns", if you have a mower -  we manage "lawns" more like a meadow, we let them get quite long between cuts, as part of the monthly schedule. This allows for more flowering, greener grass and greater soil health.
